About:
Investigating Italian contemporary jewellery and its relationship with tradition, life, art
practices, original skills, international experiences, and discovering how high craft and
design interact with the forms of wearable art.
Moving from a reflection on what is the meaning of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) as defined
by Unesco, with this exhibition we wish to give an overview of the forms of contemporary heritage
expressed by the culture of contemporary wearble artworks.
ICH, in the basic definition of Unesco, aim to recognize human assets which are traditional,
contemporary and living because “intangible cultural heritage does not only represent inherited
traditions from the past but also contemporary [rural, urban] practices in which diverse cultural
groups take part”.
The works exhibited in this context express the “group” that operates within a lively framework,
influenced by all the elements of the context in which these artists exercise their practice, related
to their background and professional skills and to the relationship with the art jewellery
community made up of colleagues and a growing audience of culture and art enthusiasts. History,
heritage, research in high craftsmanship have a fundamental role in the contemporary multiple
forms of jewellery.
