About:
This is an exhibition by eight contemporary jewellery artists mainly active in Japan and Norway. Jewelelry pieces created by artists working with a variety of materials will be on display.
Contemporary jewellery is an art form that originated in Europe and the United States in the 1960s, when concepts and messages are transmitted through a variety of materials, techniques, and the free creativity of artists, unlike general jewellery made from precious metals. It is familiar to many people as an art that can be worn.
To commemorate the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Norway, this show will be good opportunity to reassure our relationship.
The keyword for this exhibition is the prefix „Re.“ This „Re“ is written in Kanji as „再“ and means „again.“ Doing something again = „再“ is very important when thinking about the future (tomorrow). For making our future better, we have to do something, and look back past “again(Re-think)”, or think about something again. 8 of each artist will think of a word that begins with „Re“ and create a work of art that corresponds to that word, expressing the worldview of each word that begins with „Re.“ In addition, „Recycle“ will be added as a keyword, and each of the eight artists will create a work based on this word.
We believe that it will be an opportunity for artists working in remote places to think about the future of the world through works that think about the environment and society around them. In 2025, the year of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, we hope that this exhibition will be an opportunity for international exchange.
